How long does dry hair take to recover after dying?

OK, I dyed my hair on Sunday and it now feels really dry, especially when I wash it!

I don't like it dry - I've been putting conditioners etc in it but its still dry.

I assume that hair does eventually recover - does anyone have any idea how long this will take?

I'm thinking about not washing it for a week or so to see if that helps.

I recently had a similar situation, except I actually had the whole right side break off. Deep Conditioning and Redken Cat reconstructor treatment has helped alot. Its finally starting to grow back and look shiny and healthy again, its been about 6 weeks. Remember too much conditioning can also dry out your hair....Moderation is the key and drink lots of water and take a daily vitamin. How long does dry hair take to recover after dying?

You say your hair is dry, especially when you wash it and you've used alot of conditioners. Have you thought of the shampoo that you are using? Sometimes shampoo can be harsh and wash out the natural minerals in your hair. Try to use Less of shampoo or buy any shampoo that is fit for your hair use the bottles that say ';for dried and damaged hair';. You cant buy any shampoo or conditioner for your hair because it can get worse it goes for everybody. Try to use Pantene it cures hair faster than you think. Pantene is affordable and all there bottles are big LOL. There company sells all types of products fit for dried hair you can buy Pantene at CVS, Target, Walgreens id say just about any store with hair products.
Hair is dead. It does not recover like skin or other parts of your body. You can make it appear ';healthy'; by using the occasional deep conditioner. One little known product I like to use is Henna %26amp; Placenta. You can get it at Walgeens (or similar stores) for a couple of dollars. It's got proteins from cow placenta in it and will deeply moisturize your hair. It is animal and environmentally friendly.
Get hydrating shampoo
it'll take at least a few months, 2 tops.
