I love to use homemade beauty recipes. I suggest you the following for damaged/dry hair:

Hot-Oil Therapy

All five oils in this super-nourishing hot-oil treatment have one thing in common: they鈥檙e all rich with skin- and hair-enriching vitamin E. These oils will moisturize your hair and give it a silky, smooth finish. They鈥檒l also tone the skin on your scalp to help keep your hair naturally shiny for days. You can use this treatment once a week if your hair is very dry.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon sunflower oil

1 tablespoon peanut oil

1 tablespoon almond oil

1 tablespoon safflower oil

In saucepan, combine all oils over low heat. Stir ingredients until they begin to warm up and give off steam. When warm, remove from heat. Allow to cool slightly. Then massage treatment into hair and allow to sit for ten to fifteen minutes. Rinse and shampoo as usual.

my hair used to be damaged until i started using conditioning hair mask. you can find it at any beauty store or drugstore, what you do is you leave it in for 15 min and wash it out with cold water, cold water gives your hair more shine and doesn't break or damage hair like with hot water!
It might help to splash out on a deep replenishing and nourishing conditioner, and before you go to bed, place the conditioner on washed hair and leave overnight. Wash your hair the next morning and it should be silky and soft. Also before styling, apply a serum. However do not over touch your hair, doing this can make the grease on your fingers rub off on your scalp. Good luck!
well you don't need to buy anything if you don't have these basic items:

- keep in your conditoner for awhile, adds extemem mousture, especially if you have moisture shampoo

strawberry smoothie :

- 1 whole egg

- 4 strawberries

- 1 mushed banana

- 1/4 - 1/2 cup of milk

blend together and put on your hair for 10-20 minutes, makes it silky and smooth !
I too have thick wavy hair and i can only share your pain. What i do is try to have my shower and then after just put luke warm water through it which seems to seal the roots...what i them to is towel dry and add leave in moisturiser...keep away from the roots as this will make it greasy, so concentrate on the ends and underneath....

hope this helps...

i highly recommend Japanese hair straightening. i have very thick and damaged hair and it got much more manageable after the straightening. but no matter what- make sure you are going to a professional who knows what they are doing! make sure to meet with other people that got it done with him/ her/ the salon. getting referrals for this will be your best bet.
Use lots of your regular conditioner on your hair, do not rinse then wrap your hair in a hot towel for about 30 mins then rinse
Try Sunsilk Hydra TLC it has a shampoo and conditioner
